This was a wild ride. The book starts off with a flash forward to a woman who is about to shoot a man she obviously cares about. It’s clear she is doing this not because she wants to but because someone she feels a greater sense of duty towards is being threatened and she has had to choose between him and that person. That scene ends and we go back almost 3 weeks to the past and we are introduced to the woman in that scene. She’s London and she owns a cleaning service that counts among its clientele the Reaper’s Motorcycle Club. She is also the guardian of her cousin, Jessica. Jessica is 18 and trouble! She was born addicted to the drugs her mother took during her pregnancy and had severe birth defects that have left her with lifelong medical issues and according to London really poor decision making skills. She goes to the Reaper’s compound to retrieve Jessica from a party she has no business attending. When she gets there she seeks the help of Reese “Picnic” who is the Reaper’s President. Their initial meeting is awkward, to say the least and Reese only agrees to help her in return for London paying him back with “cleaning services”
Reese and London are both attracted to each other and have also convinced themselves this is attraction is no good and must be fought. London has a boyfriend and Reese has sworn of any serious entanglements since the death of his wife. . Reese won’t win any Prince Charming awards for his behavior at the beginning of the book. But when he realizes how wrong he has been, he tries to make amends. London spends that time trying resolve her attraction to Reese while she is dating someone else. She worked things out in a way that was actually quite mature and honest. As London and Reese spend time together, their attraction proves too strong to fight and they end giving into each otherIt’s really HOT and really CRAZY and at the same time very sweet. That is until London acts like a complete idiot and lets Jessica drag her into a mess that was so bad that I couldn’t even imagine how the author was going redeem her. But somehow, and actually believably, she sets London firmly on the road to redemption. I actually liked London, she was a hard worker and very generous. But her blindness to Jessica’s corrupt spirit was so annoying. She forgave Jessica’s awful behavior time and time again because of her birth defects. But, Jessica was just a spoiled and selfish and ungrateful. I mean, I guess if she was my young cousin that I had raised I would have done what I could I save her…but the lengths she went to were just ridiculous. And she realized it too late and almost made an irrevocable and horrendous mistake.
This is a real page turner! This is book 4 in the Reaper’s Motorcycle Club Series. I Highly recommend if you are a fan of Kristen Ashley’s Chaos Series.
