Review: One Wild Winter's Eve

One Wild Winter's Eve One Wild Winter's Eve by Anne Barton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this story. And while it didn't blow me away- I am grateful anytime a romance novel has characters that actually communicate with each other.
This story had a little bit of everything: passion (lots), adventure (just enough) and love.

These two are star crossed lovers whose difference in social circumstances means that their heart's desire must be denied--or so it seems. These two show the love really is the most powerful motivator there is.
This is the publisher's summary:
"ONCE YOU'VE HAD A TASTE OF SCANDAL . . .

As the Duke of Huntford's sister, Lady Rose Sherbourne follows the rules of well-bred society. Always chaperoned. Never engaging in unseemly behavior. Well, except for that one summer, years ago. And yet she's never been able to forget that handsome stable master or the stolen moments they shared. She's always wondered what might have happened if he hadn't disappeared without a word . . . Now she's about to find out.

YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK

Charles Holland never expected to see Lady Rose again. And yet the years haven't lessened his devotion-or his desire-in any way. Despite their differences in class, Charles cannot stop himself from wanting to possess her. But as they uncover one intimate secret after another about her family, they realize that, this time, their love may come at a very dear price . . ."

Rose is a remarkable young woman. Although she has been raised as an aristocrat, she has the heart of woman- one who wants to be free to live her life and find her happiness.
Charles was SUCH A hero! He was honest about his feelings, even if he wasn't prepared to act on them.
Their struggle to overcome the many obstacles in their way and their sweet devotion to each other really made this an enjoyable read for me.

As I said the beginning of this review, these two don't fall into the overly used trope of allowing a refusal to ask simple questions or have a little faith in each other to cause a BIG misunderstanding that leads to an unnecessary separation.

So, while there I had some unanswered questions at the end of the book, overall, I enjoyed this story and I will be adding the other books in the series on my TBR.
