Kaleidoscope Hearts Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kaleidescope Hearts was SO romantic! Throw in a slightly angsty heroine and swoon worthy, sweet hero and it was just impossible to put down.
This is a "second chance at love"/"forbidden love" story. The concept is one you're going to be familiar with. What makes this story such a standout is the BRILLIANT writing. I can't wait to read Paper Hearts and everything else by Claire Contreras

Our leading lady Estelle "Elle" is starting to come out of the fog of pain she has lived under since a heartbreaking loss a year earlier. She is an artist and her trademark work is called Kaleidoscope Hearts and it was inspired by the first man she ever loved and the lessons she learned when he broke her heart.

Oliver "Bean" is her brother's best friend and that relationship has always been a barrier to them exploring the attraction and connection that they feel when they are together. He's finishing up his residency and finally at a place where he feels ready to share his life with someone.

As Elle is trying to move on with her life, Oliver has decided that he is done with not being with the one woman who has made him even think about settling down.

Elle is cautious and guards her fragile heart closely. Oliver is determined to get his girl so he does his best to tread carefully while still being purposeful and determined in his pursuit of her. He is not messing around. Not at all.

Oliver is just...oh, I don't even know...divine. He has come a long way from the young man who wasn't sure that he had room in his life for anything other than his career. He knows he has the capacity to be the man that Elle deserves and he just has to convince her that she can trust him.

It's fun watching this unfold and wondering how Oliver will manage to get through the thick walls of Elle's resistance. Elle is a little angsty... but she has real reason to be and I understand her reluctance to jump in feet first with Oliver. The chemistry between these two leaps off the pages. Every time they are together, even if they are just on the phone you can tell that they are more than just friends. And when they share the same space, the scenes were so hot that I had to stop and take a breath before I continued.

The next story, Paper Hearts is Jenson and Mia's story. The way they interact in this story is so crazy that I can't wait to see how they ended up so broken and angry with each other.

As I said this is my first Claire Contreras book and it's been on TBR for ages!
