The Fall Up The Fall Up by Aly Martinez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh sweet love...
This was such a GREAT story. I loved every second of it! From the very first page, I knew this was going to be a page turner! This is my first read by Aly Martinez, but it most certainly won't be my last. I bought this because I was intrigued by the title and the gorgeous cover. The blurb also leaves you wanting to know more.

Here it is:

"I wanted to jump.
He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up"

When Sam met Levee he could tell that she was in a really fragile place in her life. What he thought would be a simple good deed ended up bringing him things that he thought he would never know again-- peace and real joy. Sam's life has been full of loss and tragedy. But he has a huge capacity for love and is a natural caretaker. And, he wants to love and take care of Levee almost from the minute he meets her. He just has to figure out how to do that while he protects the fragile hold he has on his new found happiness.

Levee has achieved the kind of success and fame that most artists only dream of. She has it all and then some. But inside she is dealing with old wounds that have never healed and that threaten to destroy everything she holds dear. When she meets Sam, she knows that she found something special. He makes her feel safe and strong, but she knows that she has to deal with her past in order to really embrace what the future holds.

At the beginning of the story, Sam and Levee are both in free fall. This story shows us how their love for each other inspires them to dig deep, break some destructive habits and choose to be happy. It's not an easy or straight path for these two, they both have to do some really hard work and make difficult, but right, decisions. But, they do the hard work, make the uncomfortable choices because they believe that their love is worth it.

The thing I liked most about this book is that while the characters were in love with each other, they both realize that they need to be health individuals to have any hope having a successful relationship. There are some heavy themes in the story, but their journey is punctuated with so much goodness. They are both creative people and they use their creativity to channel their feelings and to express their hopes and desires.
The writing is phenomenal! Sam and Levee's banter is very witty, there are so many great lines, that my kindle version looks like one big highlight.
There isn't a woman in the world who doesn't have have demons of some sort. No matter who I end up with, it's always going to be a struggle." I kissed her hair again, letting it linger as if my lips were able to transfer the truth of words. Levee, I'd like to struggle with you.

This was a gorgeous read. It's the perfect length and leaves you feeling happy for this couple.
