Le Sigh...I should have finished this book hours ago, but I kept prolonging it because I just DID NOT WANT IT TO END!!
Oh goodness, I could have read about Millie and High for 300 more pages.
I am new to blogging but I understand how beneficial it can be to have one of the first reviews of highly anticipated release by a very popular author. So, I KNOW I should have made myself finish last night, but it was like eating a really good piece of chocolate pecan pie...you make each bite count and eat tiny bites so it can last you as long as humanly possible. But, all good things must come to an end! And I couldn't WAIT TO share my thoughts on this book. So, I'll quit blubbering and dive right in!

This is the publisher's summary:
Millie Cross knows what it's like to burn for someone. She was young and wild and he was fierce and even wilder-a Chaos biker who made her heart pound. They fell in love at first sight and life was good, until she learned she couldn't be the woman he needed and made it so he had no choice but to walk away. Twenty years later, Millie's chance run-in with her old flame sparks a desire she just can't ignore. And this time, she won't let him ride off . . .

Bad boy Logan "High" Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she's just a ghost of her former self. High's intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn't want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie's betrayal, he'll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man . . .

The book starts with Millie running into Logan "High" Judd 20 years after causing their relationship to end. Millie's been living a shell of a life since she let High go and as we get to see the agony she has lived in since she left him your hurt ACHES for her. Literally. Despite what she has suffered, Millie is happy that High seems to have managed to move on with his life, looks great still and has two kids.

High did move on after Millie, got married, had two kids and has since divorced the mother of his children and is living in an RV while he looks for a house. High's friends and brothers all know that High is not a particularly happy guy. Those who know him post-Millie haven't even ever seem him smile! Those who knew him before and during Millie know how badly her ending things devastated him. And the HATE Millie for what she did to him.

After her chance sighting of him, Millie decides to seek High out and to let him know why she ended things all that time ago. And boy, does she take a beating in the process.
It is a huge understatement to say that Millie is shunned by the people who consider themselves friends of High. In ways that are so brutal and painful. I. SWEAR. TO. YOU. I felt EVERY SINGLE blow they dealt her like a slap in the face. It was so painful to read. I hurt so badly for her. Even though we don't know at this point what made Millie end things with, High, it is obvious she did it at great personal cost to herself and for reasons that appear to be motivated by a desire to make sure High got to have the life she knew he wanted.

High treats Millie so badly. But, it's hard to be mad at him because you can feel his hurt and his obviously still DESPARATE love for Millie. As they say, there is a thin line between love and hate.
They spend part of the story in really toxic spiral of destructive behavior until Millie can't take it anymore.

When she loses it and we FINALLY learn what caused her to walk away, it is a real "mic drop" moment.

High immediately sets about getting his girl back! And boy, does he succeed in a big way.
While this is playing out in the present, we get awesome flashbacks to 20 years in the past and we get to see these two fall in love. O.M.G. It's the stuff of every romantic's dreams. And when they start rebuilding their lives in the present the flashbacks really create context for how difficult it must have been for Millie to let him go.

Of course, we get to see glimpses of the three couples from the first books in this series. Millie gets wrapped into the fold of old ladies and we get to have some fun with the girl pack including some of the ladies from the Dream Man series. Elvira adds levity and all the scenes she appears in are really funny.

Benito Valenzuala and his special brand of menace is still a problem for Chaos in this book, so we get to see YUMMY Mitch, and delectable dimpled Hawk Delgado, too. The book ends with Valenzuala's threats still unresolved so that means there will be another book. Wheeee!

This is a second chance romance at it's finest. These two not only never stopped loving each other, but they really stopped living fully, too. If this sort of stuff makes you roll your eyes, you need to take a long look at yourself in the mirror and decide if you are a REAL romantic or not. Because this story is the stuff REAL romantic dreams are made of. And I would remiss if I didn't mention how on FIRE the sex is between High and Millie. They really know how to make up for lost time.

Thanks for a great read!
PS- Sister's like Bon Jovi, too, KA!
