What a fun, refreshing read! I haven't read the rest of the Tangled Series. I know it's weird, but I have found that if I start with the first book of a series and am not blown away, I tend not to read the rest of them. OR I like it, but don't feel moved enough by the background characters to want to read their stories.
I chose to start with this because it was short. Which meant, if I didn't love it, I hadn't wasted hours of my life on it. When it first started, I didn't think I would enjoy it because we get Matthew's somewhat chauvinistic POV. But, as I continued to listen, I found it refreshing to hear a story from the man's point of view. And Matthew was a GREAT guy. He was so easy, honest and sweet. It's nice to "meet" a character that doesn't have issues and baggage or some emotional trauma holding him back. He is also a really good friend. The scenes between him and Drew's apartment door were hilarious, but so heartwarming, too.
I also loved Dee. I thought she was funny, vulnerable and brave. Yes, she had some emotional baggage that made it difficult for Matthew to get close to her. But, it was normal stuff that just needed the right man to come along and help her get over it. She also sounded so gorgeous! I could see her very clearly as I was reading. She was such a free spirit- uninhibited in her emotions and full on, in your face, honest. She and Matthew had great chemistry that practically jumped off the page and didn't simmer down at all. They are a great couple and I am glad they fought for their HEA.
The supporting characters in the book were great, too and so now I am going to go back and start at the beginning of the series with Tangled. Now that I have some background on Drew and Kate, I think I will enjoy it.
The writing was great- very descriptive with lots of witty banter.
