Lick (Stage Dive, #1)Lick by Kylie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lick...It was an experience! This is my first rocker romance and I will say I am annoyed that I waited so long to read this. The title was a little off putting, in the same way "Manwhore" was. But, gosh was it a great read. I finished it in one day (I listened to the audiobook and read on my kindle).
So, this was not your typical bad boy meets good girl storyline. This is the publisher's summary:

"Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride."

So, I thought the writing was very good. I rolled my eyes at the blurb thinking that it would be a corny and trite plot device that led to them getting and staying married. But actually, the lead up their marriage was revealed slowly over the first half of the book. And somehow, it made sense. You could feel the pull these two characters felt for each other, even as misunderstanding and outside pressures combined forces to keep them apart.

I LOVED David. Yes, he was angsty and not as direct as he needed to be in the beginning, but when he was good, he was GOOD! I am all about a romance where the man fights for his woman. Where he puts everything on the line and lays his soul bare to capture his true love's heart. I loved the incorporation of his song writing and I thought the lyrics were very romantic.
Honestly, Ev was not my favorite heroine. I thought her emotions were mercurial and found that she was often the last to catch on to what was going on with her and David. Anyway, David more than made for any suckiness on her part.
The sex scenes were hot and there was a lot of honesty in them. I didn't find them to be totally unbelievable--lasting hours and including multiple vaginal orgasms that happen because the man commands it.
I definitely enjoyed the back up characters and am SO excited to read the next book where David's best friend (and the drummer in their band), Mal, is the main character. He was hilarious and sweet and I think watching a woman bring him to his knees will be SO much fun to read.
