I loved Kaleidoscope. But, I love Kristen Ashley. She really can do no wrong in my eyes. I am on a mission to read everything she has written. No one writes like her. No one. Her books are long because she gives you EVERYTHING. She answers every question you could have about the characters, their backgrounds and their futures. No loose ends, no ambiguity and SO much romance, I can barely stand it sometimes.
Emme and Dec are a really great couple and the issues dealt with in this book are far from fluffy and happy. It's a story about how hard love can be. How hard it can be to make a go of it. And how big the pay off is if you let love be your guide and stick with it.
This is the publisher's summary "Sexy, gifted, and loyal, PI Jacob Decker is a tall, cool drink of perfection who had Emmanuelle Holmes at "hello." His relationship with Emme's best friend kept them apart for years, but things have changed. Now that a case has brought him to Gnaw Bone, Colorado, the road is wide open for Emme and Deck to explore something hotter and deeper than Emme dreamed possible. So why is she sabotaging the best thing that's ever happened to her?
It isn't easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she's a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme's always been the one; she excites Deck's body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme's past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she'll let him . . .
Emme's issues are not small and easily fixed. There are some very tough moments in this story. I had moments of being very frustrated with all of the characters. I read a lot of reviews that were negative before I read this book. I can see where they are coming from. It was not always easy and enjoyable. But, the writing is superb and the storyline is unique and when it comes to serving up real, tangible romance, it does not disappoint. Kaleidescope was shorter than most of her books, but it was just as good and packs quite a punch.
