I'm Watching You (Romantic Suspense, #3)I'm Watching You by Karen Rose
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

ASA Kristen Mayhew is a tough prosecutor. She has the highest conviction rate in her office. She cares about the people who have been made victims of crime and takes her job very seriously. She also has a personal motivation for wanting to prosecute crimes involving sexual violence. This motivation is a secret from her past that has kept her living a solitary life.

As hard as she works to convict the guilty criminals, some of them have gotten off scott free. Now, she has an admirer who is cleaning up after her. Killing the people involved with cases that set those criminals free. And he is doing it as a tribute to her.
The Chicago Police get involved and Abe Reagan has been assigned to help catch the killer and to protect Kristen. Abe is a cop who is recently transferred to homicide and is dealing with demons of his own.

These two feel an immediate attraction. They both feel things for each other that they had never thought to feel again. Their romance moves at a fairly good pace and they work together to help each other get beyond the hurts from their pasts and make a future together.

The romance took a back seat to the crime that was part of the story. The aspects of the crime were really interesting and even though I thought it was pretty easy to guess who the murderer was, it was still a really good read. The reason this got 3 stars from me is because I have noticed a pattern in Karen Rose's book where the female leads feel an overwhelming sense of guilt over things that they know are not their fault. The guilt causes them to sacrifice themselves or their right to have fulfilling lives. They are usually smart, well educated career women who should know better. I understand feeling some guilt, but these women use it as their proverbial cross to bear. Anyway, I don't really enjoy that aspect of the stories. I am working my way through the Karen Rose books. I started with the most recent 3-4 and then decided i should start from the beginning since the characters usually appear in more than one book. I think I might need to take a break from these though, because they are all starting to feel and sound the same to me.
