This was a very solid 4 star read. This story is about the love story that blooms between Scottish businessman Braden and former student, bartender and America heiress in Scotland Jocelyn.
Their meeting starts off as a serendipitous coincidence with Joss renting a room from Braden's sister the same day she met him in a taxi. There is an instant attraction between the two of them and what ensues is a mix of romance, comedy, drama and lots of sex.
Jocelyn has lived in Dublin ever since a tragic event changed her life dramatically. She has basically spent the previous 8 years building a wall around herself that is designed to prevent people from getting too close. She has a fear of losing loved ones. Braden is just a normal guy (well as normal as a sexy young millionaire can be) who is focused on building his business, sowing his wild oats and spending time with his adored family. He meets Joceyln and is immediately smitten with her attitude and independence. Not to mention that he thinks she is gorgeous. Jocelyn also likes Braden but is resistant to get involved with him because she doesn't get involved with anyone. After Bradeen pursues her relentlessly they come to an agreement that Jocelyn can live with. She doesn't count on falling in love with him and his family. She has to overcome her fears and insecurities to be able to move forward with Braden.
There is also a side romance that brews between Braden's sister and his best friend that was cute to read about.
The reason this fell short of 5 stars for me (by the way, I think people give 5 stars a bit willy nilly) is because I thought Jocelyn's resistance to Braden was a bit over the top. I also didn't like the way she quickly replaced Rhian (her so called best friend). I didn't think that story line was properly resolved.
Otherwise, I thought it was a well paced, well written story that held my attention while I was reading it. It might be a book that I will read again in a couple of years, even. I downloaded the free sequel that gives you a look at the couples in the entire On Dublin Street series and what their lives have panned out to look like. Of course because I have only read the first one, I only read the stories of Braden/Joceyln and Adam/Ellie.
